As we were sitting in the Houston airport, waiting for our flight to depart (to Moscow via Amsterdam), we decided the best way to inform everyone of our travels and also document the journey for Jakob would be through this blog.
We have a 16 hour journey ahead of us, but it will be THE best Christmas present we could ever ask for.
While excitement is the ultimate emotion we are feeling right now, it is still a bit surreal that we will get to meet our son in just a couple of days.
We will keep you all posted on our travels once we get to Moscow...and of course, videos and pictures will follow!

Hey Turpins, I think all of us feel that it is surreal. It has been such a long wait for you all. I couldn't imagine what you are truly feeling, not to mention one little boy who's living in that orphanage far far away. What is he thinking right now? I wonder if he realises what a lucky boy he is. We can't wait to hear about all your adventures. Congratulations on getting another step closer. Love from the Jensens
Courtney & Wayne,
If I calculated it correctly, you are in Moscow by now, and probably feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all. Please give Jakob a hug and kiss from his Nana. I wish I could be there when you meet him for the first time. What a thrill!!
Love you much, Mom/Pam
The Haydon-Wilsons are wishing you a safe, successful journey, and sending strong love vibes your way. May your first visit with Jakob be as precious as you've dreamt it would be. We are eager to read reports of every microscopic detail!
Be safe. Be happy. Stay strong...
Christi, Larry, and Autry Girl
Thinking of you both at this special time, you have waited so long for this moment.
Sending all our love and wishes to the three of you.
From your family at Klemzig South Australia.
Our thoughts, prayers and happy wishes are for all three of you. I know the moment will be treasured forever and you will come home stronger than ever, knowing you are a step closer to bringing Jakob home. Lots of love, Rachna and Sean.
Courtney & Wayne,
I get tears in my eyes just seeing pictures of you finally in Russia. It has been a long process, but the best is yet to come - a face to face meeting with your son, what a blessing that will be. I attempted to tell my Sunday School class this morning about how exciting it is that you are finally there, but after talking a few minutes, I got choked up just talking about it and had to quit. They are all praying for you as well. Can't wait to see pictures and hear about your first meeting.
I love you! Mom/Pam
We are so happy that this exciting milestone is upon you. On Friday night we checked the status of your flight to Amsterdam and Ben loved watching your plane make progress over the Atlantic Ocean. Our thoughts continue to be with you and we are grateful that you are sharing your experience with us!
Love,
Stephanie, Ed, and Benjamin
Courtney & Wayne,
We're the "eastern branch" of your mom's cousins, and we want you to know how proud we are of you! And how delighted we are to know that Jakob will be a new member of our big old clan soon! This baby has more love surrounding him than he will ever know...but surely WILL feel. All the best! Kandy and Alan Smith, Glen Allen, Virginia
Courtney and Wayne,
Having more or less been in your shoes a few years ago, I sort of know what you're feeling - and it is totally surreal. Be kind to yourselves as you take this next step to meet your new son! Try to keep warm (I hear a few shots of homemade vodka help) and keep us posted!
-Zoe (and Dave, Gus and Henry)
I can't wait to hear what happens on day 4!!!!
Congradulations!
Courtney and Wayne,
I finally got Jakob's blog from your mom yesterday. I already have tears in my eyes and I have just read the first entry before your plane ever left the ground! Meeting your son for the first time, finally! The three of you are in our thoughts and prayers and we can't wait to meet the newest member of our family. Be safe and know that there is so much love coming to you from Aunt Penny and Uncle Jeffery
