Wow, we cannot believe how time has flown by while we were having fun!
Today, Jakob has been with our family for 1 whole year!
It is just amazing to see how this tiny little Russian-speaking "bag of bones" with long scruffy hair and a very distinct personality has grown into a bigger "bag of bones" with a huge personality and talks in English non-stop!
He has adjusted so well to his surroundings that it just amazes us daily. No matter where we are or who we are with, he is comfortable in his own skin and always has been. He will talk to anyone, try anything (only a bit picky with food sometimes...which he wasn't when we first got him) and is the most curious boy I've ever seen ("What 'dat, Mama?" " 'Cause Why?").
While it has been a big change for us this year living in a new country, new house, and having a 2 year old boy...we would not change it for the world! We are very, very blessed to have Jakob in our lives.
I am also very happy for the other 3 families that adopted the same time we did and got their kids exactly 1 year ago today. We all still keep in touch and share photos and their kids have flourished just as much as Jakob. Amazing what love can do....
More memories to come,
Courtney, Wayne, Jakob, Rosco & Bailey

Dear Courtney, Wayne, & Jakob,
What a great celebration - 1 year! It is truly amazing to see how fast Jakob has picked up English. If you didn't know he was from Russia, you would never guess by his English. The only hint of Russian is when he says "dah" (meaning "yes")but how cute it is to hear him say it.
I called Jakob the other day and he answered the phone and I asked him if his mommy was there and he said, "Dah" and then I asked if I could talk to her and Jakob said, "No, you talk to me." It was so sweet.
Jakob is a gift from God for all of us. I have been so blessed to be able to spend so much time with him this year and watch him grow. And we all have been able to watch his progress through this blog. Thank you again, Courtney, for including us on this wonderful journey.
Congratulations to the Turpins and their sweet Jakob!!
Love, Mom/Pam/Nana Pam
