Just another snowy day in Calgary...

Yes, it is the end of April and we are STILL experiencing snow storms! Who would have thought I'd be uploading videos at this time of the year of us tobogganing!

To pick up where I left off before, we had a wonderful, wonderful visit with my mom / Pam / Nana Pam! She was the first to babysit Jakob alone while Wayne and I went to a company happy hour and he (and she) did great! He asked for us a couple of times, but was just fine. Nana also got to attend his swim class (which he still absolutely loves) and see him jump off the side of the pool for the first time! We were very sad to see her head home. Jakob still asks about Nana and when we say she is at home, he puts his hand in the sky and says "swoosh" as if to indicate she left on an airplane. I keep telling him he will see her in August and then he just says, "August" in a sad sort of voice. Jakob also still calls for Nana if we go down to the basement and looks for her in the bathroom and the bedroom she stayed in (as if we would have kept her locked down there all this time...ha ha)!

Wayne has been extremely busy at work (but liking the work) and I've been extremely busy trying to keep Jakob entertained. In Jakob's music class this past week, he actually spent the entire 45 min. of the class alone with the teacher and other kids (no moms) and loved it! I think he finally realizes we will always come for him and he is confident in that. This has also made him much more independent at home (i.e. playing in the living room while I'm in the kitchen).

We've also managed to make some good friends with younger kids here and I try to get Jakob around them as much as possible. Jakob continues to learn new words and signs everyday and continues to "act his age"...except for the fact that he loves to clean (i.e. vacuum, mop, put dishes away, take out the trash, etc). I'm not sure his career as a "cleaning lady" will be enough to support Wayne and I in our old age....we'll have to work on a more advanced career for him!

I don't have much else to add now, but I hope everyone is doing well (and is staying warmer than we are). We are off to Houston on Thursday and can't wait to enjoy some heat (I promise, I'll never complain again)!

Courtney, Wayne, & Jakob,
The photos of him in the hat are so cute!! I also had to play the video several times of him calling my name after leaving the airport. He is so sweet and I loved being there with him. Jakob is such a good fit for you and Wayne - he'll try anything - and that is so great for all of you. I know everyone in Houston will see such a difference in him since they saw him last. It should be great fun for all of you (I'm sad I won't be there). I can't wait for your visit in August where I will get to be with all my grandchildren - what fun we will have.
Please give Jakob a big hug and kiss from Nana.
Love you,
Mom/Pam/Nana Pam
